A Family-Owned Construction Company Built on Quality
My story in construction began over 20 years ago, when I was just 17 years old.
My first teacher was a Vietnamese man who worked in home remodeling. He didn’t just give me a job—he gave me patience, time, and knowledge. He taught me how to use tools properly, how to respect the work, and most importantly, how to be patient with people who are still learning. I worked with him until the 2008 recession, when he decided to move to another state. That lesson—patience—stayed with me for life.
Over the years, my journey crossed paths with many teachers from different backgrounds, and each one shaped who I am today.
At Casa Samaritan, I met Teacher Martin, who volunteered his time to teach us English. He helped me understand how important it is to learn the language—not just to work, but to grow, communicate, and build a future.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to my English tutor, Janet McCandless, whom I met years ago while doing a small job at her home. What began as work turned into a friendship, and her patience, guidance, and encouragement played an important role in my personal growth.
I am deeply thankful to the
South San Francisco Library and the
San Mateo Library for helping me find English tutors and for supporting my desire to improve myself. Their dedication and the time they donate to the community make a real difference in people’s lives, including mine.
Professionally, I continued learning in the field by working with people from many trades and cultures. I worked for a Black-owned painting company, where I learned discipline and pride in detail. I gained more experience in home remodeling, then spent two years with a Chinese cabinet maker who taught me precision and craftsmanship.
I also worked with an Irish contractor who showed me the value of hard work and doing things right the old-school way. One of my most influential mentors was a Scottish carpenter who taught me how to stay organized, keep tools clean, be honest with customers, and always take pride in the final result.
Before COVID, I spent four years working for an electrical company. When work slowed down, I moved on—but the electrical experience became a strong part of my construction knowledge.
After many years in the field, and after meeting a business partner (Armando) who shared the same strong work ethic and values, we decided to build something of our own.
That is why WRAP Construction exists.
This company is built on patience, honesty, organization, hard work, and respect for every customer and every project. I am grateful to every person who took the time to teach me along the way—and especially to my father, who always taught me one simple rule:
Do good work. Because your work is your letter of representation.
